Many would-be manifestors or spiritual suspects have picked up a copy of The Secret — over 35 million copies, to be exact but not everybody has experienced the life-changing magic it seems to promise.

Now, I’m a spiritual and holistic health coach, so it’s not in my interest to tell you that manifestation isn’t real. Quite the opposite, in fact.

However…

The Secret presents a misguided and even toxic idea of manifestation that I would never recommend to anyone I know, let alone my clients.

After one of my clients approached me, saying she had bought a copy of the book and wondering what my thoughts were, I tried to tell her — without sounding like a Negative Nancy.

So, here’s what I told her in a slightly more structured, slightly less controversial tone.

And I’m expressing all of this because I 100% believe in the power of accessible and holistic education — and because sensationalism often comes with a lot of, well, bull***t.

Let’s dive in.

What ‘The Secret’ says, exactly
